Hi! I’m Doug Carter. Thanks for taking a few minutes to check out the Real Life Web Page. Whether you’ve lived in Hampton Roads your whole life, or for just a few week you know it’s all about the water! And the bridges!
One of my personal favorites is the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT) which spans more than 3.5 miles of open water across the Chesapeake Bay, bringing together the Virginia Peninsula and the South Side. The reason it’s my favorite is because many, many years ago I met a beautiful, wonderful young girl by the name of Dianne Johnson: she lived in Hampton, Virginia, on one side of the Bay, and I lived in Virginia Beach, on the South Side. I can’t tell you how many times I drove across the Bridge to visit Dianne, but I can tell you these many years later how glad I am that Dianne is my wife and how glad I am that bridge was built!
That’s the simple message of the Bible – that God built a bridge! You see, God wasn’t willing to see mankind continue in our sinful and self-destructive ways so He sent His Son Jesus to show us how we ought to live our life and to lay down his life on the cross for all of mankind!
And that simple message is what Real Life is all about!
